Balance Shields are crossing beneath inner-city areas, two
Mixshields - specialized in multi-layered, highly
water-bearing grounds - will cross beneath the Yangtze River.
In Guangzhou, the subway network has been constantly extended
over the past years. Of a total of approx. 140
kilometers of subway tunnel which are to be produced using
Herrenknecht tunnel boring machines (EPB Shields and
Mixshields) with diameters of 6.25 meters, more than 105
kilometers have been excavated since
2000. Herrenknecht supplied the two largest
tunnel boring machines in the world with a diameter of 15.43
meters each for two gigantic traffic tunnels in Shanghai.
The two colossal machines, with a weight of 2,300
tonnes and a length of 125 meters each, crossed beneath the
Yangtze River at a depth of down to 65 meters. The two
tubes of the “Shanghai Yangtze Under River Tunnel“ provide a
connection for the inhabitants of the nearby river island
Changxing to the Shanghai city district of Pudong. The two
breakthroughs in May and September 2008 respectively, set an
international milestone in mechanized tunnelling due to the
extremely large tunnel profiles and the corresponding high
requirements regarding efficiency and safety. The project also
set new standards with respect to the construction time. The
two tunnels, each almost 7.5 kilometers long, were completed
after only 20 months - 10 and/or 12 months faster than
scheduled. The completion of tunnelling work ahead of schedule
provides the ideal conditions to open the tunnel on time for
the 2010 World Exhibition in Shanghai. Herrenknecht AG

WEAPONS RANGES: The performance of weapons cannot be
adequately tested and evaluated in the laboratory.
This work has to be done on a range. For underwater
weapons, such as torpedoes, this must be an underwater range.
The rapid development since World War II of
sophisticated underwater weapons has called for a parallel
development of underwater ranges to test and evaluate
these weapons. Several of these ranges already exist
and are constantly being improved, and others are
in the
planning stage. One of the better known ranges is in
Dabob Bay and is operated by the Naval Torpedo Station,
Keyport, Washington. The Applied Physics
Laboratory, University of Washington, developed the
three-dimensional acoustic underwater tracking facility
for this range. The range at San Clemente Island, off the
California coast, is described by H. R. Talkington in the U.
S. Naval Institute Proceedings of June 1960lZ . The
ranges in existence, and planned, vary in size from 1 to
10 miles wide, 3 to 70 miles in length, and 150 to 5,
000 feet deep. In order to analyze and evaluate weapon
and equipment performace intelligently in an underwater range,
it is necessary to know those properties of the marine
environment which either affect weapon performance or
affect the instrumentation employed to measure weapon
performance. Oceanographic surveys of range sites are
conducted during planning and early construction stages.
These surveys employ conventional available equipment. Once
the ranges are in operation, periodic surveys are conducted to
gather information on the degree of variability that
occurs in the range. However, these surveys do not
reveal the day-to-day conditions of the range. The
ranges are instrumented to provide an accurate and
instantaneous presentation of the movements of a submerged
weapon, or a weapon and its target on the same run. From
the data obtained, accurate determinations of weapon
trajectory, velocity, acceleration, turning radius, advance
transfer, and other parameters are made. This
information is invaluable from the standpoint of design and
tactical considerations. The ranges present a unique
facility as an underwater "laboratory" and many new uses
and requirements for them are constantly being generated.
Amongst them are calibration of ship-mounted sonar and
navigation equipment. In this underwater "laboratory,
" however, we cannot control the environmental
variables. In this sense, the underwater range cannot be
strictly referred to as a laboratory. Therefore, it is
important to be able to measure these variables over the
entire volume of the range, not periodically, but
concurrently with the tests. A three-dimensional
system is required that will accurately measure the
properties of interest throughout the volume of the
range, communicate the data to a central location where
they are recorded, and graphically display the data for
immediate inspection. This is the ENVIRONMENTAL
SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM for the underwater ranges.
The function of the Environmental Surveillance
System is to provide, either according to a programmed
schedule, or on demand, environmental data from points
throughout the range volume, including the atmosphere

My 2 1/2 year old just can't get
enough of that blue horse that killed it's creator in an
accident. The Colorado School of Mines have 'NON'
accredited classes in some of the engineering aspects of these
underground facilities. The engineers that attend these
courses WILL NOT discuss the facilities NOR will they even
acknowledge their existence. I know.
Because I tried to get some of them to discuss it and I
could only get one fella to admit the existence of underground
facilities. Which was rather silly because the class
they were in was specifically for engineering of underground
operations. My guess was the class focus was on
hydrology, because the instructor was one of the world's
leaders in the field.

its soldiers to stay hidden — along with their weapons,
ammunition, and other supplies — and defend the country in

to sell or rent some of the bunkers to private companies and
other civilian organizations. Now these underground
fortresses are used as everything from hotels, banquet halls
and seminar centers to museums, stables, and, in at least one

I agree dig. I will try to
find the movie, I have heard about it before and wasn't able
to find it, but I am going to look again. I definitely
would rather not be underground as I believe these
'facilities' will (if utilized after some disaster) become no

I get
the feeling these were not built for everday, ordinary
citizens. If a calamity were to be unleashed I have the
feeling these would serve, only, for the card carrying NWO's,
high techys, and their servant population.
The
commoners, (that's us), in all likelyhood would not get an
invitation. Depopulation, be it an all out nuclear war,
plagues-(chemically designed), HAARP gone wild, civil
unrest-rebellions, give it a name.
Ya have to admit,
they are busy little beavers, indicates to me they are
prepared in the event of a cataclysm.
yeah, only people who, as Ron Russo said it
was put to him, have an RFID chip that says "KMA" on
it. But, I was just wondering, if they want to go live
underground somewhere, wouldn't they be able to do that
without destroying the rest of the planet? Or do they think a
couple generations later they can come back and have the earth
to themselves?

I was curious as, the way he
had the pics set up it looked like one of those older cartoons
that are going down in the ground and it shows the bones of
creatures at different levels, with that squid looking thing
at the bottom. and well being a fan of Lovecraft and
all....
